What is the 16×20 size used for?

This size is common for medium posters and canvas prints. For prints viewed up close, 300 DPI is the safe choice that most print shops ask for. Photo labs are usually happy with 240 DPI, and large prints seen from a few steps away look fine at 150 DPI.

Is my image big enough?

Drop it in the tool above: it shows the real resolution your photo will have at this size. You can also use the DPI checker. If it has at least 3,840 × 4,800 pixels, it will print well at this size. If it is smaller, you can still print it, but it will look softer; enlarging it in software does not add real detail.

Already have the right pixels? Set the file to 300 DPI without resizing, so the print shop sees the right size when they open it.
